I was raised in a small farming community in eastern Iowa. I grew up hunting, fishing and trapping the local wildlife. I came to Utah to attend Brigham Young University in 1992. I graduated from BYU in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in History. I earned an MBA from The University of Phoenix in 2003, and in 2009, I earned another University of Phoenix master’s degree in Education. Shortly thereafter, I applied for a job at what was then Mountain Land Regional Learning Center where I began working as a licensed teacher.
